Spanish performances Mon-Wed 7.30/English Performances Thu-Sat 7.30
Ramón comes to Amelia’s house to ask her to be her singing teacher and help him prepare a special song for his mother’s funeral. During the evening, among breathing exercises and confessions, they come to realise what Dani was for each of them and how his loss in a terrorist attack simultaneously separates and unites them.
Both the Orlando attack and the terrorist attacks that have recently occurred throughout Europe strongly resonate in the play, making the personal to go hand in hand with the social.
‘What makes us human? For Amelia, a deeply wounded mother, what makes us humans is the capacity to feel other’s pain as your own. When an indiscriminate attack happens, we are all victims who have to deal with the same crossroads: hate or love. Our world depends on the direction we decide to take’ – Guillem Clua.

THE LITTLE PONY/EL PEQUEÑO PONI by Paco Bezerra. English translation by Marion Peter Holt. Dramatised Reading
Spanish reading: 18 September at 7.30pm / English reading: 19 September at 7.30pm
Jaime and Irene try to confront the brutal school bullying that Luismi is subjected to. A school that protects its bullies and a couple that tries to do the best for their child will witness how Luismi escapes to an imaginary universe to protect himself from the insufferable reality.
‘I once read the news on Gryson Bruce, a 9-year-old boy from North Carolina, who in 2014 suffered several physical and verbal attacks as a result of carrying a My Little Pony backpack. He was forbidden to bring the backpack to the school and I couldn’t believe it. What is better, to follow the views of the majority or to defend your own child’s freedom of choice?’ – Paco Bezerra.
SUMMER IN DECEMBER/VERANO EN DICIEMBRE by Carolina África Martín. English translation by Sophie Stevens.
Spanish Reading: 20 September at 7.30pm / English Reading: 21 September at 7.30pm.
A family constituted by a grandmother, a mother and five sisters lives together inside their isolated universe in which responsibility, choices, sickness and compromises throb with force to the rhythm of lunches and table conversations.
In ‘Summer in December’ the spectator identifie with the different dynamics that occur inside families, while simultaneously deciphering the details and nuances that make each family a unique microcosm.
‘We are supposed to love our family unconditionally, but conflicts always break out at the slightest provocation. ‘Summer in December’ is not a play on women performed by women. It’s being written from a universal outlook’- Carolina África Martín.
LITUS by Marta Buchaca. English translation by H.J.Gardner.
Spanish reading: 22 September at 7.30pm / English reading: 23 September at 7.30pm.
A group of people meet up to commemorate Litus, a shared friend that tragically died a few months back. Memories and reproaches emerge at the same time that a set of mysterious letters appears.
Suicide is still a taboo topic in our society and an invisible gag exists in all people that suffer the loss of a loved one in these circumstances.
‘Suicide is a topic I’ve always been interested in since I was a little girl. But ‘Litus’ does not only talk about suicide, but also about friendship, love, 30-year-old people’s problems, and particularly, about how to deal with loss’– Marta Buchaca.
